Indian Passport Renewal Instruction Sheet

An application for a Passport renewal can be made before six months of expiry or within one year of the expiry of the passport. The following are the requirements for renewing a passport.

What You Need:

Passport Requirements: Old passport.
In cases, where the passport has already expired for more than one year, the Applicant should submit an affidavit and may have to appear in person, if required by the Consular Officer.
Passport Photo Requirements: Three passport photographs (3.5cm x 3.5cm, white background). The applicant must not wear dark glasses or uniform.
Passport Application Forms: One completed Application Form. This form must be completed online. The Indian Government will not accept hand-written applications.
Proof of Departure: Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline, copy of airline ticket, or a corporate letter stating US departure by private aircraft (required for same/next day processing).
Letter of Authorization: Signed Letter of Authorization.
Additional Requirements:
Notarized photocopy of greencard (both sides) or US visa document. Two proofs of residential address (photocopy of driving license/ lease agreement/ utility bills).
Global Reservation Form and Fees: Complete and print the Global Reservation Form (Order Summary Page) and include all necessary fees.
Processing Time: Passports can be processed in the San Francisco jurisdiction in approximately two to three weeks.

Mailing Instructions:

Print this page and proceed to the Service Order Form. Complete all the fields with the necessary information and review the screen for accuracy. PRINT THE COMPLETED FORM and proceed to the Letter of Authorization. PRINT 2 COPIES of the form, fill them out and sign them.

Residents of these states:
Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
